RATES AND INSURANCE
Understanding the cost of therapy shouldn’t feel confusing, stressful, or shaming. This page is here to clearly explain my therapy rates, payment options, and how insurance works, so you can make an informed decision without pressure or guesswork!
I offer virtual psychotherapy for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults in California and Maine, with transparent pricing and clear boundaries around payment and insurance.
Therapy Rates
I provide self-pay therapy, which allows us to work together without the limitations often imposed by insurance companies.
Current Rates:
Individual Therapy Sessions: $200 per 50 minute hour
Group Therapy: $35-65 per 60 minute hour
Psychoeducational Groups & Events: Varies by offering
Self-pay therapy allows for:
greater privacy
flexibility in treatment goals
neurodivergent-affirming care without insurance restrictions
focus on your lived experience rather than diagnostic codes
Why I’m a Self-Pay, Out-of-Network Provider:
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. This means payment is due at the time of service.
Many neurodivergent adults have had frustrating or invalidating experiences with insurance-based therapy. Being self-pay allows me to offer care that is, among other things:
tailored to your neurotype
not constrained by medical necessity requirements
paced appropriately for ND nervous systems
frees you from pressure to “prove” distress
Using Insurance: Superbills
If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement from your insurance company.
I’m happy to provide superbills upon request. A superbill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
Please note that reimbursement is NOT guaranteed, coverage depneds on your specific plan, and you are responsible for verifying benefits with your insurer.
I recommend asking your insurance company:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What percentage is reimbursed?
Is there a deductible I must meet first?
Payment Methods
I accept the following forms of payment:
Credit cards
FSA/HSA cards
Self-pay at the time of session
Payment is processed securely through my client portal.
Good Faith Estimate
In compliance with the No Surprises Act, self-pay clients are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services.
You may request this estimate at any time before starting therapy, but I am also required by law to provide one to you after your first appointment as well.
Is Self-Pay Therapy Worth It?
Many of my clients choose self-pay therapy because they want:
clarity instead of insurance confusion
therapy that doesn’t minimize or pathologize their neurodivergence
a space where masking isn’t required
support that actually fits how their brain works
Self-pay therapy isn’t about exclusivity; it’s about autonomy, quality of care, and creating a therapeutic space that is genuinely supportive for ND adults.
Questions About Rates or Insurance?
